The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on an as needed basis, the first Monday of each month at 6pm.

Items to be included on the agenda must be delivered to City Hall by noon on Thursday proceeding the meeting.

Zoning Board of Adjustment

Zoning Board of Adjustment meetings shall be held at the call of the chairperson and at such other times as the board may determine. 

Members of the Zoning Board of Adjustment are:

  • Jessica Walker
  • Kevin Dolphin - Chair
  • Ben Hanten
  • Zach Little
  • Vacant

General Powers of the BOA

The board shall have the following powers:

  1. Appeals From Administrative Official: To hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of any ordinance adopted pursuant to Iowa Code chapter 414, as such may be amended from time to time.
  2. Conditional Uses: To hear and decide applications for conditional use permits upon which such board is required to pass under the provisions of this title.
  3. Variances: To authorize upon appeal in specific cases such variance from the bulk regulation provisions of this title, parking and sign requirements of this title as will not be contrary to the public interest, where owing to special conditions a literal enforcement of these provisions will result in unnecessary hardship, and so that the spirit of these provisions shall be observed and substantial justice done.
  4. Special Exceptions: To hear and decide applications for special exceptions to the terms of this title, in accordance with the general regulations of the zone in which the property is located and specific standards contained herein.

NOTE: The city is required to hold a public hearing for any of the above requests, and there is a fee associated with this, so please call the city for the amount and process before requesting a meeting.
